Hello World

Hey. Hi. Howdy. Hello. Other greeting that starts with "h."

My name is Angelica, and I'm a high school senior at some really obscure high school in California. You may be wondering why this blog is titled "Jelly Politics." You may also be wondering why a high school senior would choose such a juvenile name that makes me look like I'm a thirteen-year-old girl trying to make politics seem all fun and happy. But no. No... (I feel like that's especially impossible with current politics.) Jelly's actually my nickname because you know. AnGELIca = AnJELLYca. And I just tacked that onto the word "politics" since I'm really really bad at coming up with titles.

Anyway, this blog is meant for my AP Government project where we'll focus on linkage institutions and how they influence our political ideologies. So yeah. Get excited.

(Or not. I don't care.)

For this first post, I'm (forced to) going to talk about my political typology. After taking this quiz, I found that I'm supposedly a solid liberal. Based on the quiz's description of solid liberals, they are generally affluent and educated, always identify as democrats, are strong supporters of Barack Obama, optimistic about the nation's future, prefer diplomacy over military, and strongly believe that change is necessary for success.

I'm not exactly sure if this accurately represents me though. From what I remember, all of the questions only had two options, so there wasn't any way for me to choose a more neutral stance. I wouldn't say that I'm affluent or a "strong" supporter of Barack Obama, either. I don't have any negative opinions of him, but I'm mostly detached from politics, so I can't say much about my thoughts on political figures.

Oh well. Yay politics.

  2. I appreciate your mentioning of the limiting factors that existed with the political ideology survey we did. I agree that there simply weren't enough answer options, and that may have skewed everyone's results. I know that even though I got solid liberal, like yourself, I lean more conservative in some regards (i.e economically, sometimes) but that was not reflected in the survey. Overall, I love the way this post was written. All the props to you.

  3. Like the intro of this and knowing about your own way of the political ideology and may didn't well with everyone's else's responses. And I like that gif on this.

  5. I really liked that your blog was informal but also very informative !! Also, that gif usage is A+ (or I guess an 8 on the rubric?). What you said about the quiz was also really important and not something I considered !!

  6. The way you write your blogs adds humor to the information provided, making me look forward to future posts. I am on the left side, but not as solid as you are. I agree that the answer choices were limiting, however picking an in-between answer would make it difficult for the system to determine your placement. I, too, am detached from politics (why worry about politics when you can work on college apps?), so I had a tough time answering some questions. Overall, nice post, eager to see more.

  7. I love your writing and appreciate that you can express your ideas without six-syllable words.
Also agree that politics can be petty and dramatic and staying away may be best for one's emotional health :')
